I love black eyeliner. This should be a must-have in every makeup bag. I have used gel, cream, liquid pen, pencil, and liquid pen liners. The easiest to use, even for beginners, are liquid pen liners.

Although the concept may seem simple, some liquid pen eyeliners are easy to use. Your eyeliner will only look as crisp and clean if the brush is soft enough. Let’s look at some of my favorites, but not-so-favorite, liquid pen eyeliners.

Stila All-Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner This is hands down my favorite eyeliner. This liner is jet-black in color and waterproof with a soft applicator. It glides on the skin and makes it easy to apply. It lasts all day without smudging.

Revlon Colorstay liquid eye pen. I love Revlon’s Colorstay range, but this eye pen is not for me. It’s nice that the applicator is stiff, making it easy to control. However, the color is more faded than black. This liner is too faded for me. I need help using it. It doesn’t last as long as I expected and smudges easily.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. Another favorite of mine. I love the black color, the applicator, and the durability. This liner took a lot of work to use. I felt it dried too quickly, and it would be difficult to layer or fix it. But, it has improved over time. It is fragile at the tip, which makes it easy to apply.

NYC High Definition Eyeliner. This NYC liquid eyeliner was my first purchase. I loved the original NYC liner so much that I was thrilled to get it. This liner could be better. The applicator is great, but the product could be better, watery, and a waste of money. This is why I feel so terrible writing it. I love NYC, and I have to be honest.

L’Oreal Infallible the Super Slim Liquid eyeliner. . . I love this slim liner but need another liquid liner to bring out the wing. Although this is a great product to use along your lash line, it doesn’t give you the best results if the brush is placed sideways. However, you won’t be able to create detailed looks (such as thin lines or a small wing). The applicator will not dispense any product when the tip is pointed straight on.

Maybelline master precision by EyeStudio. This is similar to L’Oreal’s Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner. This is an excellent product for defining the lash line. The color is black and highly pigmented. However, it doesn’t create thin lines.
